AgeingEivind continued with what seemed like unstoppable energy. His brain still worked well, but his body was failing him. "I have never seen anyone write notes this slowly" fellow composer Arne Nordheim said after seeing Eivind work on writing down fiddle tunes from recordings - work he earlier did at lightning pace.. In 1969 he was given the most modern medication. This helped him in his daily work but put more strain on the heart. |

Eivind Groven died from heart failure on February 8th, 1977. He is resting next to his first wife in the Tangen church yard. The stone carries a stained glass mosaic by Inger Kvarving.
Other memorials include a monument to him and his fiddle playing brother next to the Eidsborg stave church in Lårdal, Telemark.
