In 1950 Eivind and Ragna bought a small piece of land in the Tjøme area on the south coast of Norway. where they raised a tiny cottage the following year. Later they extended the house with a space for Eivind to work in. Every summer was spent here while Ragna was alive.

During the summer of 1959 Ragna's condition was detoriating, and April 6th, 1960 she died, 57 years old. The probable cause was heart failure following a serious blood poisoning in 1946. She was buried in the Tangen church yard.
